Bug Out

Megan and I brought big , fake insect, laminated pictures of insects, insect coloring pages and lots of insect books. We met at Evelyn Meador library and taught the kids about insects.  Megan knows soooo much already, she was ready to help in the field identify bugs.  But, instead she studied fiddler crabs. Her mommy taught about bugs. I hunted for them on the trail before the table in the end at the butterfly trail. I was nervous at first , but soon felt at ease and taught them a lot. We taught what a true bug is, how to tell an insect is an insect, how spiders and crabs are related to insects (all arthopods), etc. I then read All about bugs by Dr. Seuss. I also read a book called hairy and scary bugs. It shows up close pictures of insects and their scary parts.
