Megan did a couple of word ladders today. One with words sit, hit, hat, had, hand, sand and stand and another one with the words hair , hail, fail , fall, ball, bald.

On the top of page 60, Megan has to read a story and then answer questions about the story. She did this very well.
Then, given a word, she had to put in the missing letters to finish spelling the words. She was going to spell coin , coyn. You can see that she thought "oy" made this middle sound. I had to tell her that "oi" is right in this case and it makes the same sound.
Megan had to pick out the shapes in the row that matched the shape name. The two trickier ones were parallelogram and trapezoid. This are discussed in life of Fred. Then, she had to read the sentence, find the misspelled word and write the correct spelling down on the line.
Megan had to select the letters to spell the word for the picture shown. She did really well, spelling words such as crust, stamp, drink, swept, pants, etc.
On page 90, She read a set of two sentences and picked the best one to describe the picture shown. She did this well, though some of her pronunciations were hard to understand.
On page 80, Megan had to look at the pictures, read the word and then "X" the picture that matches the spelled word. Then, she has to write the word.
On page 81, There are pictures and in the box with each picture is a pair of similar words and Megan has to pick the right word that spells the picture shown.
Megan did not have crayons to do the first part. On the bottom, Megan had to underline the misspelled word on a sentence and then rewrite it the right way. She wrote went, train, room all by herself.
Sheiks given the picture and is asked to spell the word. I noticed she was looking back for one of them and said to do your best, but do not look.
On page 16, Megan did some alphabetizing. Though this is a first to second grade book, I learned, as I have known, that Megan needs practice in this area. So, for now on, we are going to use a dictionary.
Megan had to fill in the missing numbers when they started with 1-24, then 31-50 and then 75-101.
Then, she had to look at a picture and circle the word that spells what it is , like a picture of a can of soda gave can or cane, or pan and pane for a frying pan.
On page 10, Megan had to practice writing her name two times. Then, she had to finish the punctuation as she read 10 sentences. She needed to put in a question mark, period or exclamation mark accordingly.
I didi a lesson where I drew a clothesline of shirts and their sleeves each had a blend and I read a blend and she had to try and write the word on the shirt. Well ,Megan was efficient I guess and just wrote the letters that come after the blend, like for plane, she wrote "ane" Then I had a gluing activity where she glued pictures of the blends in the right places. I checked and she did this. So, it seems she understand constant-L blends fairly well.
