Evan Moor Daily Word Problems Pages 28-29

On page 28,  Megan is given two types of hogs and their weights, 520 (giant forest) and (20) pgymy hog and is asked how much less does the pygmy weigh. She was stumped , but I reminded her of her houses and that you are only subtracting from the 10s place and none from the hundreds or units.  if you take 20 from 520, you get what. She figured out 500.  The next one she did easy. There were 6 warhogs running into the clearing . If each has two tusks, how many tusks were there in all.  The next problem was a three number addition. She had to add up  six males, seven females, and ten piglets.   How many were in the herd was the question. She did this herself and came to the right answer of 12.
