Reading of a Classical Story

We read the story of The Velveteen Rabbit. or How Toys become real. It's a story about how well loved toys because real because in the mind of the child, the toy is real. In this story, a stuffed rabbit learns that as he/she becomes shabby, loses fur, eyes and tail starts to come off and ears get torn, it is getting closer to being "REAL" in the child's mind. The child in the story gets a sickness (scarlet fever) and though the bunny has many memories of going on outings with the boy, she is going to be burned to get rid of germs causing this illness. Luckily, a nursery toy fairy comes and really makes the rabbit real and as she goes back to visit the boy, he recognizes the rabbit as the one he soooo loved as a child.
