Mapping our back yard and Scale

This morning , Megan decided to draw a map of our yard. I let her do this a while, letting her realize that if she doesn't scale things down, they will not fit on her sheet of paper. I told her she can make things bigger but she'd need a bigger sheet of paper. It was a good visual learning experience of scale.  We ended up using too small of a scale, 1 yd = 1/4 inch so we may go back on another day and increase this to 1 yard = 1/2 inch and see how it goes.
