We also learned the names of the valves and that arteries move blood away from the heart and veins move it toward the heart.  We then discussed the blood flow throughout the body and Megan asked where do the arteries and the veins meetup to exchange blood.

Borax Crystals

I found this on a homeschooling website. its like sugar formations, but this lab using Borax laundry soap.  In hot, boiling water you put a certain amount of borax laundry soap, the amount depending on the size of your container and volume of water.  What you are doing is forming a saturated solution of the borax crystals.  After we made the water, we tied a string around a pipe cleaner and tied the string to a pencil and then we hunt this into the solution. Before doing this, we made a star shape with a couple of pipe cleaners, so that we could make crystal stars.  This worked really neat. We still have them, but they are fragile and crystals fall off of them.
