This week we started the book Lentil.  The book is set in an older time, in a small town in Alto, Ohio. We first discussed where Ohiobwas and how to spell it.  We then discussed , using compass rose directions how you would get there.

Then, we did social studies and discussed the United States flag again and it's symbolic importance. We discussed the number of stripes and stars and why people think highly of it.

The, we talk about war memorials.  We discussed the ones that we has seen. Megan does not remember that many, but does remember seeing a memorial for Devaca, a Spanish explorer.

We alsodiscussed how to tell this book was set in an the past, with a bathtub with feet and an old time cash register for example.

Science and lentil -accoustic. We discussed how te sound of the harmonica played in a bathroom with ceramic or solid fixtures would sound better than in a room with carpet or couches with upholstorery on them.

Finally last night, I introduced charcoal as the drawing medium and gave Megan her set of charcoal pencils. She practiced drawing and adding shadig. And then drew a bird.
