Adding to the sum of ten and other math oct.31st

What numbers add up to 10. I had her work with blocks to visualize this.  Then I tried to teach her, using place value blocks, that when you add a number to ten, 9 and less, it just becomes 1x, with x being the number added.  Like your x is your number of units and your 1 is your ty or tens place. All the will need repetition of course. Also, she would ask what is 10 + 20 and I would pull out 10 blocks and say that is like adding the tens place without any units ( math-u-see's ones place). She seemed to understand this, but again repetition is key.
