Megan did a yeast balloon experiment. She labeled her experiment, wrote the date, describe using her five senses, the ingredients, and wrote and learned new words, such as inflate, bubbles, bigger, yeast, and sugar. She predicted what was going to happen and wrote a fair share of it down.  I am letting her guess how to spell things..

They also have to understand the effect of heat and cold.  Megan saw a piece of butter melting on the counter She noted its appearance and said it was melting. I asked her why,She said it was because of the heat in the house.

More social studies came in when discussed difference in climate and how other people lived. I said f it were colder, would the butter melt like this so quickly. She said most likely not.  So we discussed some other aspects of climate, like gardening and crops.
