Overnight between April 28th and April 29th, 2014 the pieces of the NASA SCA (Shuttle Carrier Aircraft) N905NA a converted 747 designed to ferry the Space Shuttle around, travelled down Old Galveston Rd (Hwy 3) on its way from Ellington Field to its new home at Space Center Houston.
We waited about 2.5 hours for the procession to arrive, and watched the police/fire/utility trucks clear the intersection at Clear Lake City Blvd and Hwy 3. The fog rolled in from the south, as the giant 35 tall nose of the SCA crept silently into view. Very awesome, and worth the wait. (but also very challenging to photograph so apologizes in advance for the slightly blurry and sometimes speckled photos)
The Daytime pictures are from the Corner of NASA rd 1 and Hwy 3, where the convoy rested during the day before proceeding to Space Center Houston the next night.
