After breakfast we took a nap and then we got on the road around 11:40 am EDT, we drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway until just before the Virginia/North Carolina state line, We averaged 30 miles of the Parkway per hour, and there were fewer overlooks. But we did stop at Mabry Mill and "The Saddle". The photo above is at Mabry Mill.
Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg TN, I don't know if we just didn't pay attention last time (6 years ago), or Pigeon Forge has developed into a gaudy tourist trap. Gatlinburg has almost the same attractions but a whole lot more low key in comparison. Also we appeared to have chosen the same time to visit as the "Shades of the past Rod Run XXV"
We made it to our hotel (Hampton Inn in Gatlinburg) after 313 miles at 9:50 PM.
