We left Ellicott City to begin the return leg of our trip around 9:30 AM EDT, and drove via part of Shenandoah National Park’s Skyline Drive to get to Rocky Mount VA. We decided to get Megan a National Park Passport book which you can stamp at each National Park. We averaged about 10 miles of the Skyline Drive per hour, but we have some pretty panoramas to show for it. Definitely worth it.
We exited the park near Luray, VA and stopped for Ice Cream. Hershey's Dairy and Ice Cream is not affiliated with Hershey Chocolate. We may have known that previously, but we seemed to have forgotten. Also given how overfilled the Luray Cavern's parking lot was as we drove by, we would not recommend visiting there the Sunday of Labor day. One should however visit there at some point in their lives and touch the fried egg in stone.
At 6:45 PM EDT we made it Nancy and Bru’s home. Where they had a backyard barbecue going, and had invited many of Julie’s old friends and acquaintances over.
