We were up late the previous night chatting with Chitra and Kermit, so we got to a late start leaving the hotel at 11:44 AM EDT. We regret that we couldn't schedule this leg of the trip to be any other day but Sunday, Most of the road side stands were closed and we didn't get to have some hot boiled P-nuts and Cold Peach Cider. Also we didn't get to stop at the Mayfield Dairy. :( We've been there before, but and although we didn't get to go on the tour (we arrived just before noon) we got to eat their delicious ice cream. The giant water-tower painted as a Peach in South Carolina is in the photo above.
Lesson to be learned: One should always verify directions from the net prior to using them, or one may find themselves buying a local map from a gas station where the clerks are smoking at the counter.
But after 249 miles, we made it to Jerry and Kelly’s home in Stanley, NC around 6:15 PM EDT. Megan got her first see of her first cousins Gabrielle and Jacqueline. Jacqueline is just over a month younger than Megan.
