Joules's Memorial Slideshow

It is with a heavy heart that we post this to inform you that we decided to put Basil to sleep on March 12th, 2013. He was suffering from renal failure and hyperthyroidism, and continued treatment would unlikely ease his discomfort. While it was a not an easy decision, we firmly believe it was the right one.

Basil was an energetic, friendly, and curious cat, always exploring and escaping into the garage, he was fascinated by our shower stall, he enjoyed going for car rides, sparing with Joules and nuzzling Hunter. He was scared of large crowds and thunder. He kept the house clear of small fauna, and like to steal Joules' food. He liked eating lettuce as well as salmon and chicken liver. He was a patient and perceptive cat. When Joules was scared and hiding, Basil would always stay near him. Basil was much beloved by all and will be sorely missed.

It is with a regret that we post this to inform you that our cat Joules passed away in the morning of September, 30th, 2013. He was diagnosed a couple weeks prior with cancerous lumps in his hind leg that was causing him to limp, and further scans showed that it had metastasized into his lungs along with a swollen lymph node in his abdomen.

Joules was a good cat, he was often scared of many things, but not heights and he could often be found on top of the highest perch around. While he almost always deferred to Basil, he was always the first to be concerned when Basil couldn't be found, and would lecture Basil when he got back. He was a well loved cat, and he loved all who fed him. He was a lazy cat, often overweight, but other than cancer, he never had any major health issues. As you can see from the attached photo, he had a penchant for laying on things, especially something that was important and particularly when he wanted your attention.

We buried him in the backyard next to his beloved littermate Basil. We will truly miss them both, and they will forever be in our hearts and mind.
