Megan and I have been working our way through this book. In the process, we have been learning all the family names, such as Ah-Ma, Ah-Gon, Winston B. Wang, Julianne Marie Wang, Megan Sheng-nian Wang. Megan has had to memorize two poems. I will try to upload a movie of her saying them shortly. Then, she has memorized the definition of a noun, that is "a noun is a name of a person , place thing or idea.

On the top of page 60, Megan has to read a story and then answer questions about the story. She did this very well.
Then, given a word, she had to put in the missing letters to finish spelling the words. She was going to spell coin , coyn. You can see that she thought "oy" made this middle sound. I had to tell her that "oi" is right in this case and it makes the same sound.
Megan had to pick out the shapes in the row that matched the shape name. The two trickier ones were parallelogram and trapezoid. This are discussed in life of Fred. Then, she had to read the sentence, find the misspelled word and write the correct spelling down on the line.
Megan did a row of adding single digits and subtracting numbers, like 12-8 and 11-7. Megan was then given clues and had to fill in the missing word, like It begins like rip and rhymes with cake, in other words, rake.
We read this english /spanish book and learned a lot. On one side , it had the english words and on the opposite page, it has the Spanish words. We learned a lot of new words, such as woodpecker, birds, rocks, rough , smooth, searching, etc. We will be reading it again as it was a good story leading to why lizards soak in the sun.
