Megan Sheng-Nian Wang
Megan Sheng-Nian Wang
This is a special Megan update, we’ll return this weekend with the Bi-weekly photo update this weekend but in the meanwhile here’s some news on the three-and-a-half special projects:
1.The Megan Mosaic - if you haven’t already seen this in Aunt Peggy’s blog. (and if not, you should check it out, it’s chock full of observations from Beijing and the rest of China). Winston has made a Photo Mosaic from over 1100 photos of or relating to Megan, using MacOSaiX a very nice piece of freeware for Mac OS X. It took the program overnight to analyze and assemble the mosaic, and each image used is unique, although several are very similar. It includes scans of the ultrasounds and photos from the baby shower and nursery setup, as well as almost all the decent photos taken of Megan from the first 10 weeks: (click to see larger versions including a 300 dpi 8”x11” print quality version of the photo mosaic, and you can clearly see the images that make up the mosaic)
2.The Great Megan Tour - Preliminary plans have been made for the Great Megan tour of the South. If you live near or are going to be visiting near the Blue line on the Google Map below, and want to see Megan Live and in person, get in contact with us.
3.Apple updated its iLife suite of tools last week, and upgraded its .mac web service. So we’ve upgraded our RSS photocast to a full blown Web Gallery. Actually two of them Megan Select 2 (which has the same photos as the photocast and both with be maintained) and Megan & Co. which is a collection of Megan with Friends and Family. It can take little while to load so please be patient, it has quite a few features that make it worth it. You now have a variety of ways to view the photos, if you look at the bottom of the web gallery, you can view it as a Grid, Mosaic, Carousel or Slideshow, you can also change the color of the background to a different grey or white, and you can dynamically change the size of the thumbnails. At the top of the page you can download a full-size version of the picture, or subscribe to the RSS feed for that gallery. For the Megan & Co. gallery we’ve enabled photo uploading, either through the web interface or by e-mail. So if you have a photo of Megan, go ahead and add it to the gallery, and it’ll automagically get added to ours here at home. The new Apple products are really cool, but we’re going to continue hosting the main photo galleries at http://basil2.homeip.net/~Baby/ . We’ll continue to use the photocast/web gallery as way of notifying you of any updates here, and only place the “Select” photos there.
3.5. We’re giving iWeb an audition at making web pages (like the one you’re looking at now!) But we’re not convinced to give up our existing web page creation process. But it does have some nifty features which we’ll take advantage of when the time comes.
